OAS News

OAS is wrapping up it’s second, full league season and is in the midst of its championship events.  Already, five of our 9 championships have been completed and all of them have shown significant growth!

The Orlando Championship kicked off our events.  Windermere Prep school hosted a great tournament with 96 archers attending and 100% participation from all of their schools.   The following weekend, the San Diego and Gainesville Conferences kept up the momentum.  San Diego had 112 archers compete at the Olympic Training Center.

2015 Gainesville Conference Championships

Gainesville saw huge growth this year as they increased from 13 archers last year to 53 this year.  Thank you to the Easton Newberry Archery Center for hosting their event and supporting the schools.

Finishing this back to back run were our Los Angeles Championship and Florida State Championship.  Los Angeles returned back to Glendale High School with a record high of 147 archers.  Despite chilling afternoon rains, the archers remained determined.

The Orlando Conference hosted the Florida State Championship at Lake Mary Prep.  This event brought schools from both Orlando and Gainesville together.  In total they had 119 archers compete that day!

These events would not be possible without the hard-work and dedication of our coaches, volunteers, archers, sponsors, and many more.

The fun is not over yet though!  Up next, the OAS program is headed out to Louisville for the NASP Nationals.   We are excited to be working with NASP to grow the sport and offer more pathways and opportunities for young archers.  Also we’re only half-way through our own championship events!  Coming up next is our CO, TX, CA, NY State Championships as well as our National Test Event in June.
