OAS School Receives Charger’s Grant for Archery and Fencing

Chargers Champions School Grant Program. Coach Stevens and Coach Maroni from John Muir are on the right in blue.

Congratulations to our OAS school, John Muir K-12 School, for receiving a $45,000 grant from the San Diego Chargers for their archery and fencing programs!  The Spanos family and the Chargers Community Foundation have generously supported San Diego schools for nearly two decades by providing funds for physical fitness, nutrition, or athletic programs.  John Muir School joined OAS back in early 2012 and have since grown a strong archery program.  Recently, parents volunteered to build a new storage shed, with donated materials, for all of their archery equipment.  Until then, bows, arrows, targets, and more were part of the ‘decor’ of Coach Steven’s science classroom.  This grant from the Chargers will enable the school to further add to their archery range which is used for club practices during the school week as well as for youth and adult JOAD club practice every Saturday morning.
